We are glad to announce the successful completion of our 3-year ground-breaking PASSEPARTOUT project and are proud to have been part of deploying miniature, hyperspectral optical sensors based on Quartz Enhanced Photo-acoustic Spectroscopy and Photo-Thermal Interferometry technologies to monitor a wide range of ambient pollutants in collaboration with a leading multidisciplinary group of partners in Europe.
As part of this project, a network of 20 AirSENCE devices has been deployed across 3 key cities in Europe since 2022, providing continuous real-time data on O3, NOx, SO2, CO2, CO, fine particles, coarse particles, weather data, ambient noise and light, as well as integrated metrics such as Air Quality Index (AQI). A few key highlights include:
• AirSENCE network not only delivered high spatial-resolution air quality data and general air quality trends but also provided valuable insights into localized events that cause temporary fluctuations in air quality.
• Each AirSENCE device collected up to 1,260,000 data points, ensuring comprehensive monitoring.
• Data from AirSENCE units remained well-aligned with reference station measurements, even after more than 2 years of field operation.
• Air quality pattern prediction techniques were applied to effectively decompose air quality data into distinct patterns and residuals. This approach enabled the removal of these patterns from the data, facilitating residual analysis and the early detection of air pollution events.
